Amnesia: the beginning of an empire
When Eric Bedard first joined Michael Simard and Yannick Simard to create the
young band, they were only 17 and 16 years old. Still, they already had the maturity of long time musicians.
Inspired by names like Nocturnus, Pestilence, Atheist and especially Morbid Angel (because of the dark side),
their music drew attention from young Quebecers.
The ultimate goal was innovation of a new and powerful style to dominate the music industrie worldwide and drain energy from
their instruments of war. First, Denis Bernard joined Amnesia as vocalist in June 1995 (and been replaced by Carl-Eric Faucher in August 1999), then Kevin Ouellet as rythm guitar and finally
Daniel Pepin on keyboard to add a mysterious yet melodic atmosphere to the symphonic tracks already solid.
The creation of ''land of no return'', the band's first album was on it's way.
The concept of Amnesia is based on mental capacities, emotions, self confidence and fate that anything you think about
is possible to accomplish even when it seems impossible (magic, mind control, telepathie...). As the months went by, the stability
became bigger than ever before. The young warriors now knew something imperial had to come out from their covenant.
The final result of 3 difficult years happened early in april 1998 when the production of their LP was completed. But
it is just the beginning of an empire we know is going to last forever in the art of black and progressive metal.
After somes personal differents between band members and time schedule the band nearly split-up in 2001. Now all those problems are far behind and Amnesia is back stronger than ever before in 2003 with the coming of a new member David Ouellet as a permanent replacement to the original bassman Michael Simard. They now work twice as hard to recover from the several time lost.
